What this tool does

This tool compares your date of birth with today's date and reports your age in years, months and days. It borrows days and months correctly when your birthday has not yet happened this year, and it handles leap years because it uses real calendar dates rather than assuming every year has 365 days.

How to use it, step by step

  1. Choose your date of birth from the calendar box.
  2. Press Calculate my age.
  3. Read your age in years, months and days.

Worked example

Suppose someone was born on 10 March 2000 and today is 27 October 2026. They have completed 26 full years, then 7 full months from March to October, then 17 days. Their age is 26 years, 7 months and 17 days. A simple subtraction of years alone would miss the months and days, which is why calendar-aware calculation matters.

Common mistakes

Frequently asked questions

Why is my age in days different from 365 times my age in years?

Because of leap years and because you have also lived part of the current year.

Does it work for 29 February birthdays?

Yes. The calendar calculation handles leap-day birthdays, and your age in years still increases on your birthday in leap years.

Is my date of birth stored?

No. The calculation happens in your browser and nothing is sent to a server.

Can I find the age on a different date?

This version uses today. For a past or future date, use the Time Duration Calculator with the two dates you want to compare.
