What this tool does

Choose a start and an end date and time, and the tool reports the gap in days, hours and minutes, plus the total in hours and minutes. The order does not matter: it reports the absolute difference, so swapping the dates gives the same result.

How to use it, step by step

  1. Choose the start date and time.
  2. Choose the end date and time.
  3. Press Calculate.
  4. Use the days/hours/minutes breakdown for planning, and the total hours for work or travel estimates.

Worked example

From 1 January 2026 at 09:00 to 3 January 2026 at 12:30 is 2 days, 3 hours and 30 minutes. In total that is 51.5 hours, or 3,090 minutes. Counting by hand is easy to get wrong across midnight, which is exactly what this tool avoids.

Common mistakes

Frequently asked questions

Can I find days between two dates with no times?

Yes. Leave both times at midnight and read the days figure.

Does it include the end date?

It reports the elapsed gap, not an inclusive count. Add one day yourself if you need an inclusive count, for example for a holiday booking.

Why is the total in hours useful?

It makes it easy to compare durations, estimate work time, or convert to pay or travel time.

Is the result affected by leap years?

Yes, correctly: real calendar dates are used, so February in a leap year has 29 days in the calculation.
